About Signal Mountain, TN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Signal Mountain, with a population of just over 7,500 is located in the county of Hamilton, and is approximately 15 minutes north of big city Chattanooga. Signal Mountain received its name from Signal Point, which is a jutting of mountainous land that rests in the city and has been used by many for varied reasons, such as smoke signal communication from early Native Americans, and later by the Union Army for American Civil War activities. Signal Point National Historic Park, though the smallest park in the national park system, plays no small role in enabling residents and visitors alike to marvel at the wondrous natural beauty that comprises the land. The National Parks & Recreation Department also offers many public parks, nature trails, and the like, with numerous opportunities for hiking, climbing, and walking trails. The bluffs below Signal Point offer astounding views of the Tennessee River Gorge, which has been commonly dubbed as “The Grand Canyon of Tennessee.”
Those who enjoy a bit of culture will appreciate all that The Mountain Arts Community Center, placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002, has to offer, with a variety of classes and events to the public, including dance, arts, pottery, and weaving, to name a few. The Signal Mountain Playhouse is also a good place to go, to take in an annual show or two, depending on their schedule. Those looking for a bite to eat will relish in the authentic Mexican flavor of Ayala's Mexican Restaurant; the comfort-food cooking found at Gin Gin’s (a favorite of Signal Mountain locals); or those hoping to find homemade pizza will enjoy the made- in-house sauce and dough that The Pizza Place makes daily. Signal Mountain offers shopping opportunities, a good number of which comes from hometown specialty stores. Signal Mountain is also home to the infamous Flying Saucer House. Emma Bell Miles, a famous poet, once called Signal Mountain home. The weather in signal Mountain is mild but seasonal with colder winters, warmer summers, and an average annual temperature in the low ‘60’s.
